These are amazing. First off, I'm glad to have finally found a pair of around ear headphones for my kids. Most kids headphones are on-ear and tend to be very uncomfortable. For most kids, these will be very comfortable.
Secondly, the build quality is totally acceptable. They feel like they'll hold up fine to a moderate amount of abuse. I do wish they had a removable cable as that tends to be the first thing to break. But, these headphones are cheaper than any 3.5mm cable I've ever bought, so I'll just replace them if they break. The headphones themselves fold flat, so are easy to pack.
Lastly, and this is what amazed me the most, the sound quality is shockingly good. I'm a bit of an audiophile and have headphone setups costing thousands of dollars (with dedicated amps, DACs, etc). Just for fun, I put these on ready to be appalled, but was completely shocked when I hit play on the first song. They're really, really good. Obviously they're not going to compete with a pair of Sennheiser HD800 Ss. But, for ten dollars on sale, they're fantastic. They're a bit congested, but that's true of most closed-backs. The bass is surprisingly balanced and decently tight. The mids are balanced with lower mids being a bit forward. Vocals are their strongest point and are pleasantly natural and clear. I have listened to $500 headphones with worse vocal performance. The highs are rolled off, but I prefer that to sibilance. None of this will mean much to most kids, but for the parents who appreciate good sound quality, you can rest assured that you're not giving your kids something terrible.
Update: I threw some EQ at these and am completely blown away. Bring up the sub-bass, tone down the lower mids and pump 2k-8k and you can really breathe some life into these. Bringing the highs up cleared a lot of the congestion and gives these a really pleasant soundstage with decent imaging. The bass can get a touch flabby, but is still reasonably well controlled. For a few comparisons – I'd say with EQ these sound better than AirPods Pro. I like these more than the Sennheiser HD560S (without EQ). If they weren't slightly uncomfortable on my big head (and silly looking for an adult), I'd actually be pretty happy with these as a daily driver. Truly amazing.
